Mr. James Hughes is Senior Fellow at Storage Technology Corporation working in the areas of Networking, Storage and Cryptography. He is currently the Chair of IEEE P1619 (Security in Storage) Workgroup which focuses on creating an international standard concerning algorithm modes, and key management for encrypted storage. While working for Network Systems Corporation, he was responsible for the Cryptography in BorderGuard, one of the earliest VPN Routers as well as several network security products. James Hughes has been a contributor to various IEEE, ANSI and IETF standards committees.

Born October 12, 1954 in Los Angeles, CA, USA, has 9 patents issues in network, storage and information security with 6 patents pending. He was honored as one of the Innovators for 2004 by InfoWorld Magazine for his work on Storage Encryption.
