Yukitsuna Furuya graduated from Faculty of Science, Kyoto
University, Japan in 1974. Right after that, he joined NEC Corporation
in Japan. He has been engaged in the R&D of wireless communications,
especially on mobile communications in Central Research Laboratories
in NEC.
Currently,
he is a Chief Engineer of Mobile Business Unite, covering both
infrastructure and handset technology.
Since 1997, he worked on the IMT2000 standardization within Japan as a chairman of SWG2, Air Interface Layer 1 sub-working group.
In 2001, he moved to Mobile Terminal Division of NEC as a General Manager of 3G air interface related part development including chipset and protocol.
During March, 1999 - March, 2001, he worked as a chairman of 3GPP
TSG-RAN, which is in charge of radio access network for WCDMA
TD-CDMA and TSD-DMA, as a global standard.
