Brief Description Control of the mobile Robots in indoor and outdoor environments (telecontrol, supervisory control, adaptive control).

Sensor systems for their navigation and applications: more specifically, vision systems and associated navigation algorithms.

Outline Robots and Mobile robots: role, trends.

Mobile Robots: application related design.

Mobile Robot Control: Kinematical Model, Tele-operation, Supervisory Control, Adaptive Control.

Navigation: A*, Potential Field and Behaviour based navigation.

Sensors for the navigation: Ultrasonic mapping.

Sensors for the navigation: Tracking with Camera's.

Sensors for the Robot tasks and manipulator positioning (from tactile sensors to the other sense-sensors (olfactive, radars, NQR, IR, ...etc.).

Presenter's Biography Full Professor, Head of the Department of Mechanical engineering (Division Polytechnics of the Royal Military Academy RMA).

Director of the Laboratory Dynamics of Mechanical Structures & Mobile Robotics/Mechatronics/UGV Research activities and projects involvement: Environmental engineering, vibration testing Static robotics (kinematical simulations) and Mobile robotics (indoor/outdoor env).

Project HUDEM (BE Funded Humanitarian de-mining/Robotics 1997/2002).

Project BEMAT (BE funded Mine action technologies/sensors-Robots 2003/2006).

Project MB07-UGV (BE funded project on Unmanned ground vehicles/all electrical vehicles 2001/2007).

Brite-Euram Eur Thematic Network CLAWAR (Eur funded Network 1999/2002).

Growth Eur Network Clawar-2 (Eur funded Network 2002/2005).

Member of EURON, Official Representative of Belgium in IARP (International Advanced Robotics Programme) and Chairman of the IARP/Working group HUDEM.
